We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ and is an outward declaration of an inward transformation that has taken place through faith in Him. While baptism does not save a person, it is a public testimony that the believer has repented of sin, received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and is committed to following Him.
We practice baptism by full immersion in water because it most clearly reflects the biblical example established by Jesus Christ and the early Church. Through baptism, believers identify with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, symbolizing the old life being buried and the new life in Christ beginning.
Water baptism is reserved for those who have personally repented of their sins, confessed faith in Jesus Christ, and made a conscious decision to follow Him. It is a joyful celebration of God’s saving grace and an important step in the believer’s journey of discipleship.
The Purpose of Water Baptism
Water baptism is an expression of:
Obedience to the command of Jesus Christ.
Public identification with Jesus Christ.
A testimony of salvation.
Identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
Commitment to a new life of holiness and discipleship.
Membership in the community of believers.
Biblical Foundation
Our belief in water baptism is based on the teachings and example of Scripture:
Matthew 28:19–20 – Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize believers in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Mark 16:16 – “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…”
Acts 2:38–41 – Peter called believers to repent and be baptized.
Acts 8:35–39 – The Ethiopian official was baptized after believing in Christ.
Romans 6:3–4 – Baptism symbolizes our union with Christ in His death and resurrection.
Colossians 2:12 – We are buried with Christ in baptism and raised through faith.
Our Practice
At Rhema Miracle Centre Church:
We baptize believers by full immersion in water.
Baptism follows genuine repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ.
Candidates receive biblical instruction before being baptized.
Family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate this important step of faith.
Baptism services are conducted by ordained pastors or leaders authorized by the church.
“Through water baptism, we publicly declare that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We have died to sin, been buried with Christ, and have been raised to walk in newness of life. We commit ourselves to live faithfully for His glory and to fulfill His purpose until He returns.”
